About SEDC

Open Skies. Open Doors. Open for Business.

SEDC Mission Statement

It is the primary goal of the Seagoville Economic Development Corporation to use funds derived from the half-cent economic development sales tax to encourage new business, promote growth and/or retention of existing businesses, creating new employment opportunities in our city, increasing our tax base and/or improving the quality of life.

SEDC meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 6:30 PM.  The public is invited to attend.

SEDC Background

The 4B Sales Tax

In 1995 citizens of Seagoville passed two propositions, a half-cent sales and use tax for reduction of property tax rate and a half-cent sales and use tax for economic development and community improvements.

The Seagoville Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) was formed after the passage of the half-cent sales tax, which funds the corporation. A seven-person Board of Directors overseas the SEDC.

4B funds can be used for community projects such as infrastructure, park improvements, and economic development projects such as incentives for business relocations or expansions of new and/or existing businesses.

The SEDC office works with existing and potential businesses in the areas of business expansion, retention and redevelopment through market development, education and training.
